Mobiles
N79 - Nokia has supplied the campaigners with the Nokia N79 Active, which features a wireless Polar Bluetooth WearLink heart rate belt from Polar, A-GPS tracking and a new version of the Nokia Sports Tracker application. This means the expedition can be followed round-the-world, second by second. By tagging text and photo’s to each location you will be able to see exactly what they have been up to.
They have also given the team the 5800 XpressMusic. Nokia’s first touch screen phone which will allow them to hold 8G of songs.
The larger N96 will be used as the team’s multimedia computer, allowing them to Blog, Twitter and Facebook around the globe.
Solar panniers
Custom built by G24 Innovations, the team have flexible solar panels built into their panniers to power all of their kit. Each team member will also have a Power Curve, a rigid panel attached to a bracket on their handle bars which can be detached to provide them with a clean energy power source when they are away from their bikes.
Jackets and merino thermals
Ethical retailer, Howies, have provided the team with cycling jackets and some of the finest merino thermals going. These will not only keep them warm - but cool too. Yes indeed! This is some of the best merino in the world and it is ‘hygroscopic’. For more details about what that actually means - check out the Howies website.
